Drew and Amos Adopt!
We want a house with a crowded table.
And a place by the fire for everyone.
We want a house with a crowded table.
And a place by the fire for everyone.
Author Seth Godin once said, “Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from.”
Don’t get us wrong…we love to see new places and meet new people. But what we really want is for every day of our lives to be filled with love, laughter, and time with the people we love the most.
Since we met in 2015, we have been focused on creating that kind of life.
We are just a couple of guys from humble roots who met on-line, fell in love, established a home in Oklahoma, and are ready to grow our family. We work hard in our respective careers so that we can play hard, too. We enjoy supporting our community by supporting non-profit organizations and frequenting local businesses. Travel has become a favorite pastime of ours. While warm sunny spots seem to be a favorite, we also like to visit National Parks, museums, historic and cultural sites, as well as hike some of this country's beautiful landscapes.
It is a beautiful life, but we know it could be so much more. We want to be parents and our home is ready! We have had lots of fun with nieces and nephews, and our friends’ children and can’t wait to share our lives with the child that is meant for us.
Drew loves big, takes care of his people, and is the host with the most. He is the best birthday cake, banana bread, and scone maker. In addition to baking, Drew loves to tend his flowers, and plan the next gathering of family and friends. His career is in banking with the federal government which allows him to work from home and gives him a lot of flexibility. He uses his financial expertise to volunteer with local non-profits and his church. Nothing is more important to Drew than his family, both biological and chosen.
Amos is the frosting to Drew’s birthday cake. He isn’t a baker, but he is a great taster. He is also the most loyal friend anybody could ask for. Amos is also very involved in the community by serving on city committees, non-profit boards, and volunteering at his church. Amos is self-employed in real estate. He loves his job, works hard, and enjoys the flexibility being his own boss provides. In his free time Amos enjoys junking, spending time with family and friends, and getting lost in ancestry research.
At our wedding, two of our friends sang a song called, “Crowded Table.” The chorus is:
I want a house with a crowded table-
And a place by the fire for everyone.
Let us take on the world while we’re young and able-
And bring us back together when the day is done.
The people of Our Table are the best! They remind us every day of how lucky we are to be surrounded by some of the best friends and family anyone could ask for. A friend once said, "You all go hard for each other." He wasn't wrong. Rain or shine, in joy and in pain, our Village rallies around each other something fierce. We are in awe of how fortunate we are to love and be loved by so many. Our Table is crowded in all the best ways!
This is our home. The picture doesn't show how much love is inside, but this is where we live and where we long to raise a family. Our home is located on a quiet cul-de-sac, in a residential neighborhood, in a small town in northeast Oklahoma. When we were deciding where to “build our nest,” we looked for an established neighborhood, a home with character, extra bedrooms for children and guests that visit, a yard for entertaining, and great neighbors. This home checked all those boxes! We have already created so many happy memories.
